Intercultural Communication Training

With the globalization of the workforce, we have more opportunities to interact with international colleagues, customers, and suppliers.  However, with this opportunity comes the potential for miscommunication and lowered motivation and productivity due to cultural misunderstandings, language barriers, or accent bias.  Our research-based intercultural communication training program addresses these problems through custom workshops designed to meet your organization's needs. We conduct pre-assessments and observations to understand potential sources for miscommunication and areas for growth and enrichment.  Our training programs are module-based; learning outcomes can be selected to meet your needs, and unique outcomes can be developed to suit your situation.

Possible Learning Outcomes
-Apply frameworks for understanding cultural values (e.g., Hall, Hofstede, Schwartz) to your unique business situation
-Compare your own cultural values, attitudes, and ways of communicating with that of other cultures
-Reflect upon one's own cultural biases and plan practical strategies for addressing these biases
-Develop strategies for inclusion, ensuring every voice is heard
-Compare the communication styles - written, oral, and nonverbal - of selected target cultures with that of American culture
-Develop strategies for handling difficult communication situations, both face-to-face and virtual
-Master global English skills
-Apply active listening skills to intercultural situations
-Identify the stages of culture shock and various coping methods
​-Integrate practical information about American culture, language, and schools into an employee relocation program
