Course Title: Clear Speech
Join us for a dynamic, live, instructor-led 12-hour course on speaking with more clarity and confidence in English. The primary objectives of the course are to identify and correct problem areas in pronunciation and to begin to incorporate these corrections into daily communication. Secondary objectives include correcting grammatical errors, improving word choice, and learning common idioms and slang. Each participant will receive individualized feedback on his or her pronunciation and other factors interfering with clarity.

Section A (Evenings): Mondays, 7:00 - 8:30 PM EST, February 7 - March 28, 2022 (WAITLIST. Contact us to add your name).
Section B (Daytime): Tuesdays, 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM EST, February 8 - March 29, 2022

Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to
-identify which English sounds are most significantly affecting intelligibility,
-produce these sounds correctly in controlled speaking situations,
-apply elements of English rhythm and intonation to scripted speech,
-begin to incorporate these new sounds and elements into spontaneous speech,
-correct grammar and word choice errors that are interfering with communication, and
-learn the meaning of common slang and idiomatic expressions.
Participants should:
-have reliable access to the Internet and speakers/microphone (or a headset) during course hours,
-ideally, have webcam capabilities,
-ideally, have the time and resources to do recording exercises outside of class,
-speak English at the intermediate high level or higher (see ACTFL)

CANCELLATION POLICY: These courses are limited to six participants, so please take this into consideration when you register. Participants who cancel their registration in writing ([email protected]) no later than five days before the start of the course will receive a full refund of their participation fee. No refunds can be given with less than five days notice. Please understand that the decision to run any given course is based on attendance, and ample time is needed to give wait-listed individuals a chance to register.
